If You Don’t Put Energy In, The Clients Will Fade

You need to have a system for success in order to grow and maintain your business. An important part of this is making sure you put in at least enough energy to keep the clients you have, and expand your business at a rate that allows you to take care of each client.

Remember, your clients are the investors in your success. They are number one. Remember the old adage, “the customer is always right,” at least when it comes to being given prompt, courteous, quality attention! You need to keep your investors engaged in what you are doing — whether that’s through a blog, friendly phone call or coffee to check in, or an emailed quarterly newsletter that lets everyone know what’s new. This will depend on your personality, your strengths, and the type of business you’re in. But however you decide to do it, DO IT! The personal touch is what can make, or break, a business.

Besides just putting energy into your current clientele, you create further potential clients when you go above and beyond by giving the best product or service. Customer loyalty is earned, but once you have it, word of mouth is the best advertising! Think about it — when a respected friend tells you they have a fantastic, reasonable, reliable, and honest service-provider — don’t you pay more attention than when that annoying radio ad with the cheesy jingle is being played for the fourteenth time in a half-hour? Besides, personal referrals are the cheapest and most effective ad campaign you can ask for because it means that simply being awesome to your present clientele will grow you a wider customer base!

So, what’s important is to consistently put in the energy to engage your clients, the people who are assisting you in making your dreams come true. Your clients are your business partners, and can be your best resources — never forget it.

Many times I’ve seen people fail in their business basically because they didn’t put a sustained effort into getting more work. One should never feel too confident during busier times because in a few months these could slow. Start planting client seeds NOW!
